GIRAFFE

GIRAFFE 03/12, w/ pencil

Here’s my newest art. I wanted it to be nice and simple and while searching through images online I found this giraffe. I did it in pencil on just regular typing paper. Plain and simple, and I’m happy with the way it turned out!

new goal!

Even though there aren’t may posts on here, I decided to change the things up. Instead of doing mostly writing random things, I’m going to start posting my art (and probably other people’s art too)! Over the past year, I have come to the conclusion that I don’t surround myself in as much art as I should, and I “art” less often than I used to.

So I’m making a challenge for myself.

Each week I am going to make at least 1 new “art”- be that a painting, or a drawing or “mod podge-ing” (that of which I do lots of that since it’s easy and I can do it while I’m just sitting at my desk to pass time or while I’m watching a movie), or whatever kind of art I get my hands on.

I also want to immerse myself in art. Since I wasn’t able to take any art classes this year (and probably won’t take any while I’m in college since I’m taking the nursing-route and simply don’t have the space for it), instead I want to try to find art in small places. Whenever I find it, I’ll try to post that too! There’s a museum on campus called the Sheldon Museum of Art and I think I’ll start by visiting there more often and finding my happy place surrounded by all the paintings and sculptures.

So that’s what I’m gonna do, and I’ll post pictures and such here to share with you! By the end of the week, you can expect a post about my newest “art”. PROMISE it’s coming. Real soon.

When I started this blog, I thought I’d post something every few days. But that doesn’t happen apparently…

A few updates:

1. Those pictures on the right are how my St. Patty’s day snack turned out.

2. Also I found this awesome website called SEND ME YOUR HEAD. It’s really neat. Her name is Karen Schmidt and she paints 3″x3″ paintings of people’s heads.

3. Spring Break… yay? I’m not especially excited for spring break, but I’ll be keeping busy studying and going to Sea World

with my Lumberjack and some friends! Also I’ll definitely be going to go see The Hunger Games ASAP.
